The CAT5 Awards celebrate powerful, disruptive product developments and provide Capital for the Acceleration of Technologies to early stage companies. First place winners will be awarded $100,000 and second place winners will receive an award of $50,000, both from Space Florida’s sponsorship.

About the Competition

The 2014 CAT5 Awards competition will take place on the Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014. The CAT5 Awards is an exciting capital acceleration competition set to pinnacle at an annual Showcase event. The event is funded by Space Florida and the University of Central Florida Office of Research & Commercialization. Upon selection, all 10 finalists will be put through an intense mentor and coaching program to prepare them for their presentations at the Showcase event.

Eligibility

    1. Accepted companies will be engaged in market sectors that align with the strategic sectors of Space Florida set forth in its Vision 2020. These are:
      • space transportation and advanced aerospace platforms
      • satellite systems and science payloads
      • ground and operations support systems
      • agriculture
      • climate / environmental monitoring
      • civil protection and emergency management
      • ISS and human life science (including medical research)
      • communications
      • cyber security & robotics
      • adventure tourism
      • clean / alternative energy applications
      • advanced materials and new products

2014 CAT5 Awards Timeline

Application Window Closes: November 8, 2013 @ 5pm Eastern
Finalists Selected: November 24, 2013
Finalists Notified: November 30, 2013
Coaching and Program Elements: Dec. 2013 – May 2014
Final Competition / Showcase Event: June 3, 2014
